As for the specialist industry practice, I chose to focus on costume design as opposed to a fashion practice. I want to pursue a career in the costume industry after my studies. Being given the phrase ‘Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow’, I decided to look at the practice of ballet. Draw from the past to create garment designs of the present. A big source of my creative inspiration come from Sergei Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes. I wanted my work to be distinct, but still have its ballet roots. As for the image I selected for this leaflet, it is stand work I completed in the material explorative, designing process of my project. This particular piece involves small rectangles of coloured canvas, which I twisted and pinned in place. The jewellery wire gives wearable structure to the stand work. The canvas is the flowers, and the wire is nectar and stem.
