My final piece is called “Here’s Johnny”, based on the film the shining by Stanley Kubrick 1980, originally written by Stephen King 1977. Stephen King found that the film itself lacked warmth towards the end and describes it as a ‘beautiful car with no engine’. I wanted my piece to make people feel the horror but the beauty towards it in the media. I chose to do this piece on wood because I think wood has a weird admirable layout, through the texture and the pattern that it forms itself in. I also wanted to do it on wood as johnny smashed down a wooden door with an axe. My project is about the theme of horror, I chose this because they inspired me the most, how someone can watch or read something and produce the same idea but it's interpreted in two completely different ways.
