Creating my final piece has been a great journey of self expression and exploration of subjects including loss, grief and self image. I enjoyed testing my strengths and weaknesses throughout this final unit and combining processes of printing, illustration, decollage, text and more that I have learned over the two years on this course. I had always planned to leave the context of my work open for multiple interpretations therefore, I adopted a very fluid and free approach to creating my final pieces. This raw technique resembles the practices of artists including Tracey Emin and Kathe Kollwitz who also explore grief and suffering. I wanted to relate this project to my personal experiences and emotions in hopes of connecting my feelings with the audience. If you look closely into the blank spaces of my final pieces you will be able to see some written text that detail my personal experiences and feelings.
