Over the duration of this course I’ve learnt a lot about my personal art style, mediums I enjoy, and about myself. Most of the work I produced over this past year has been focused on the LGBTQ+ community and while I researched stories and artists, I also had to look inside myself. I’ve managed to create art that I’m proud of, thanks to inspiration from artists like Alice Oseman and Marsoids. Finding myself has been difficult, and I still struggle with my identity – which is why I enjoy creating art so much. Creating characters that I relate to, that I connect with on a level beyond art and artist, helps me to connect with myself too. More than anything else, I hope my characters speak to people struggling with discovering themselves. I hope my art helps other people in my community, the way other artists have helped me.
